Polar Fibre Streamer

Saltwater Fly

I first saw this fly on a video called Success Flies/Unfair Advantage Materials "The Unfair Tie".  The material looked just like craft fur you get in the craft stores but it's finer.

Next was the hook, a circle wide hook.  This gave an advantage because the hook point was upside down.

Materials:
Hook:        Orvis 28GX (size 2/0) Circle Wide Hook,
Thread:      Orvis G Clear (mono)
Body:         White Polar Fibre, then Krystal Flash, Red Polar Fibre and Chartreuse Polar Fibre
Eyes           Doll or epoxy
Head:         Orvis Softex

Step 1

Insert Circle Hook and tie on the Clear (Mono) Thread.  The Clear Thread is used so it is not seen on the hook.  I think you can use white monocord or G.

Step 2

Cut a bunch of White Polar Fibre.  You do want to be able to see some light shine through it.

Step 3

Tie in by the butts (the cut of section) just catching them with the thread.

Step 4

This is what it will look like after you secure the Polar Fibre in place.

Step 5

The in the next clump of Polar Fibre next to the previous one.  Just catching the ends with the thread.

Step 6

Use a comb to blend the fibers together.

Step 7

Add one more section of white Polar Fibre.

Step 8

Add a small stack of Red Polar Fibre (for gills)

Step 9

Cover it up with some White Polar Fibre.

Step 10

Add Krystal Flash

Step 11

Add a stack of Chartreuse Polar Fibre

Step 12

Add a second stack of Chartreuse Polar Fibre

Step 13

As you can see from the previous photos.  The material was tied on the top of the hook shank.  All I did was twist the wing to the bottom of the hook shank and applied ZAP a Gap to the hook shank locking the wing in place.

Step 14

Apply the Orvis Softex to the fly.  Just dab it on.

Step 15

Coat both sides and only the head of the fly.

Step 16

Add eyes to both sides then coat again with Softex.

Step 17

Let it dry.  Turn it around occasionally or use a rotating drying rack.
