Tying the Hi Vis Compara DunHere is an easy fly to tie on hooks 16 or smaller. Saw this one on the Outdoor Channel's Fly Fishing Show and wanted to pass it on to everyone. Materials: In this example I am using olive thread to match the Blue Wing Olive. |
Step 1
Tie the olive thread where the wing will be added. This will help secure the wing in place so that the material will not roll off to the far side of the hook |
Step 2
Measure the wing. It should be the length of the hook shank. |
Step 3
Secure the wing. |
Step 4
Trim the ends of the wing material at a angle. This will help form the body. |
Step 5
Tie in the tail. You can use Micofibbets. Tie them in split tail. |
Step 6
Use the thread to create a body |
Step 7
Add dubbing material. This will be added behind and in front of the wing. |
Step 8
Dub the fur in front and back of the wings. Splay the wing 180 degrees. Whip finish. Done. |
